Abstract

This scan of the Quaker Campus, the student newspaper at Whittier College, was the last printed issue before the transition to online learning in March 2020. Approximately half of the issue discusses the changes and uncertainty on campus due to COVID-19. The issue details the college’s initial plans to move all classes online following Spring Break. Large-scale events for over 100 people were canceled, and professors had to rapidly adapt their teaching and class structure to an online format, which presented different obstacles across departments. Opinion articles discuss the potential repercussions of the COVID-19 virus not only on commencement, sports, and gatherings but on xenophobia at large.
