Abstract
Mr. Newman, frequently called Chief, was the head football coach when President Nixon attended Whittier College between 1930 and 1934. He recalled Nixon as cannon fodder for the football team. Nixon did not miss any practices despite having a job. Chief described Nixon's desire and willingness to battle.
