Abstract
This study analyzed two sustainable businesses in REI and Patagonia. The goal of my study was to find the integral aspects that make both companies successful in business while maintaining sustainable practices that can be integrates into my own sustainable business proposal in order to achieve the highest chance at success. In order to locate this information, I examined the profits, environmental impact and sustainability practices, best practices, marketing, employee treatment, employee reviews, and customer reviews of both companies. The study found that both companies are piooneers in the field of sustainable business. Both have reached a well working medium of maximizing profits while minimizing the impact on the environment. Due to their care, for the environment and focus on fair practices, REI and Patagonia have a loyal customer base that demonstrates continued support of new products and politices. There is little evidence to support any cons emerging from these companies that could be detrimental in the long run. The business proposal aimed to foster similar values and customer loyalty while maximizing positive impact among users. The proposal integrated the findings of the research and demonstrated that profits, sustainability, and positive impact can all exist in the same business. This was done by creating a platform based on user participation to integrate people's daily lives so that they can be changed towards a sustainable path.
