Abstract
This project is a volume of three stories that consist of the scholar's fascination with his identity, based on the his life and experiences. The first story is a narrative history of the author’s parents’ lives as immigrants in this country. This story highlights how they distanced themselves from factors in their own traditional ethnic identities as a part of their own assimilation into this society. It conveys the importance of personal history to identity. The second story is told from the point of view of a white man form a middle-class background and recounts confusion and loneliness which inspired an obsession with identity. The final story is written from the point of view of the character that is based on the author and chronicles a job interview.
