Abstract
This project examines Franco-American relations and what caused them to change. The Scholar analyzes factors internal to France, such as Anti-Americanism and the popularity of DeGaulle; the impact of economic factors, such as the Marshall Plan; military policies, such as NATO and the EDC; how friendships with other nations affected the US-French relationship; issues involving decolonization; and DeGaulle’s need for American assistance coupled with his disgust at having to depend on another country.
