Abstract
This paper is a senior project that describes and analyzes the Uptown Whittier Albertsons Redevelopment. It is significant because it provides anyone who reads it an overview of the planning process and how that process is carried out. This research project serves as a model of how the process works in a particular case, but its background and application are broad enough to give anyone who reads this paper adequate information on the planning process and what is involved in it. We will begin our discussion with providing a background of what planning is and the theory behind it. We will then proceed and delve as to how and why there is citizen involvement and opposition in some cases. Then we will discuss, in detail, the redevelopment process in California and will conclude with the actual Albertsons redevelopment. In this section, we will explore the finer points of what exactly wen on, the field research and results, and conclude with how and why such a project could be relevant to you.
