Abstract

This project consists of a document, of considerable size, which contains both creative works set in an overreaching fictional universe-- such as sketches, stories, and the like-- but also plan, outlines, and explanations for said universe. To be specific, I created a narrative bible similar in style to what one might find for a large franchise or television show. This work was intended to illustrate my plans of communicating a branching, evolving story across various mediums by both providing insights into how that might be possible and detailing the intricacies of the stories. The formation and ultimate completion of this work, as one might expect, mostly creative. With that said, there was time spent categorizing my ideas, sorting through what information would be both helpful and necessary, and what could be left on the cutting room floor. Additionally, great care was put into the formatting of the document so that it looks both professional and accessible, inviting yet impressive. The formatting was not entirely from scratch, though, as its form was inspired by similar narrative bibles that I learned from. Ultimately, this 45 page work was divided into 12 sections, each with varying amounts of subsections, with each designed to impart some level insight either into the world and stories or the plans of how this work could translate across multiple media. My presentation of this work will not be the end of it. Admittedly, it will be a conclusive statement on the work and its applicability, but I feel strongly in this project and in my belief that it could come to fruition in some capacity. In taking time to create such a project, I found that the end of its initial goal will, ideally, be just the beginning of its life.
