Abstract
Basketball has always been a huge part of my life, shaping who I am both on and off the court. As a senior at Whittier College and captain of the basketball team, I have experienced firsthand how powerful the game can be in teaching discipline, teamwork, and leadership. From a young age, I spent countless hours practicing, learning from my coaches, and growing as a teammate. Through these experiences, I learned that success does not happen overnight. It requires patience, consistency, and a willingness to work through challenges.
I was fortunate to have mentors who believed in me and pushed me to be my best, not only as an athlete but as a person. They taught me that basketball is more than just a game—it is a tool for building character, developing confidence, and forming meaningful connections. Those lessons shaped me into the leader I am today, and they continue to guide how I approach challenges on and off the court. Now, as I reach the final stage of my college basketball career, I feel a strong responsibility to pass those lessons on to the next generation.
My inspiration for this Youth Basketball Development Camp comes from both my love for the game and my desire to give back to the Whittier community that has supported me throughout my journey. I want to create a camp where kids can learn, have fun, and feel inspired to chase their goals. As someone who has worked hard to earn a leadership role on my college team, I understand how impactful it can be for young athletes to have positive role models. I want to be that role model—someone who leads with effort, respect, and heart.
