Abstract
This project was designed to highlight technical details often overlooked in the music industry while analyzing "All You Need to Know About the Music Business" by Donald Passman and "Leading Teams" by Richard Hackman. This project includes information about music artists, how to pick a creative team, the role of a personal and business managers, E&O insurance, advances & recoupment, music numbers, producer/mixer deals, advanced royalty computations, and major/advanced record deal points. Other highlights include independent production and distribution deals, copyright basics, publishing companies, songwriter deals, cop-publishing, touring, and merchandising. Overall this project provides a breakdown of the music industry by individual, teams and business tactics.
