Abstract

Program is for the play by Ketti Frings and based on the novel by Thomas Wolfe. Focusing specifically on the last third of the novel, the play follows the coming of age of Eugene Gant as well as the lives of his family members. Eugene’s mother runs a boarding house, “Dixieland”, and his father runs a marble sculpture shop, both businesses intertwine with the lives of the Gants causing inner turmoil to rise within the family. The play ran October 1962 and the program was created by the Whittier College Theatre Department.
