Abstract

The program is for the play by Tom Stoppard. Travesties focuses on fictionalized versions of several real, historically significant people in 1917 Switzerland. Henry Carr, the main character, claims to be the British consul in Zurich. He narrates the story years later but his memories are faulty and often misleading. He speaks with his current perspective on events and then shifts to inhabit his younger self and narrate from that perspective. The play was directed by Jack DeVries and ran in October 2003. The program was created by the Whittier College Theatre Department.
