Abstract
In this letter, Edith reports to Lorena about Florence and her internment in Japan. Edith explains that many American citizens living in Japan had hoped to leave via a ship, but that Florence did not want to leave. The ship failed to arrive, and a group of Americans including Florence and her sister Lillian were collected for internment. At the time this letter was written, Florence and Lillian had been interned for 19 months, and were assumed not to have been treated badly but did suffer from the same food shortage as the rest of Japan. Edith recommends that Lorena write to Florence via the Red Cross.
