Abstract

This senior project describes why high school students in Pico Rivera are not going on to pursue higher education. It starts by taking a look at the Pico Rivera community as a whole and later it focuses specifically on high school age youth. It outlines the problems, root causes, and offers a solution. It creates a template that non-profits or other organizations can use to help high school youth understand the college application process better in order to encourage them to pursue higher education. This paper is directed towards community leaders and non-profit mangers to help them understand and address the issue.
