Abstract

This project explores a major figure in Buddhist philosophy which embodies the core virtues of the ideal Bodhisattva. This project details Gandharan art, Buddhism, the two major schools of Buddhism as well as the Diamond and Heart Sutras. This study concludes the Maitreya is central to both art and philosophy.
