Abstract
Through the use of public policy analysis, this project examines mandatory vaccination policy in the United States, and particularly in California. The project also addresses social issues surrounding the vaccine for Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus (DPT), with an emphasis on the responsibilities of physicians and patients. The roles of policy makers and organizations are examined, as well as the issues that arise when too much control of public health is given to one group. The project concludes with an analysis of what the public does to encourage changes in public health policy.
