Abstract
This project is a research paper on the parasitic disease, schistosomiasis. Schistosomiasis can cause illness, disability, and in some cases, death. Schistosomiasis survives in climates that range from tropical to temperate. The disease is most prevalent in underdeveloped areas where sanitation is poor. These underdeveloped areas have little money for treatment and controls. And because the disease prevents people from working, the economy of these infected areas can suffer. Without eradication efforts, schistosomiasis can be spread to the whole population. In trying to control schistosomiasis people are looking for the most thorough and least expensive methods. This paper will be a summary of the most common methods of schistosomiasis control. The paper begins with an explanation of the disease, such as the symptoms and stages, the history as well as some diagrams.
