Abstract
This senior project is a research paper in which the author discusses her opportunity of instructing a creative writing after school workshop as well as leading 35 honors English juniors in writing exercises at California High School. The author emphasizes to the audience the importance of language a means to communicate as well as connect with others and how it helped to shape her senior project. In this project the author attempts to describe the students in her workshop class and the impact in which they had on her as well as their specials skills and growth with concern to writing. The author then goes on to describe the course as well as the skills she wanted the students to learn. This project also includes a sort of journal of the workshops and includes some of the author’s reflections. There are also evaluations made by the students involved in the workshop and concluding thoughts made by the author. The second aspect of the project includes a book of poetry, prose, and artwork called Voices by students at California High School.
