Abstract
Program is for the musical based on the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne with music by Mike E. Smith and J.R. Mounts and arrangement by Brackett H. Clark. The musical is set in the Puritan Massachusetts Bay Colony during the years 1642 to 1649 and follows Hester, who is charged with crimes of adultery after having a daughter with a man, whose identity she keeps secret, she’s not married to. When her long lost husband returns and finds out what happened, he adopts a new name and vows to find and reveal the man’s identity. The musical ran April 1991 and the program was created by the Whittier College Theatre Department.
