Abstract
Program is for the play by Bertolt Brecht translated by Michael Hoffman. The play follows Shen Te, a kindhearted prostitute who wishes to lead a “good” life. When she is given the opportunity to turn her life around, she purchases a tobacco store but her customers begin to take advantage of her. Shen Te resorts to dressing like a man and adopting the tough exterior of her cousin Shia Ta to gain respect. The play was directed and choreographed by Jennifer S. Holmes and ran October 2016. Program was created by the Whittier College Theatre Department.
