Abstract
In this letter, Florence gives her condolences to Lorena on a recent illness. She shares that she is staying at the summer home in Karuizawa, where the volcano Asama has been very active. She then tells a story of watching silk buyers at a market before updating Lorena on the progress of the book she is writing about fans.
